Catch of the Day

2005 has been a great year for offshore game fishing and with the exception of just a few days the boats really loaded up on Tuna, Dolphin and Wahoo. Wahoo fishing was good all season but it really hit its height this fall. Never have I seen as many Wahoo boated and I mean Big Wahoo as I have seen this fall. Fifty pounders were not uncommon with quite a few in the 80 pound class.

Lots of Blue Marlin and Sailfish were caught and released and now here in December we are catching Big Giant Bluefin Tuna. This will probably continue well into February.

The inshore fishing and offshore bottom fishing was equally as good. Lots of King and Spanish Mackerel, big Red Snappers, Groupers and Triggerfish and all other species of bottom fish provided lots of action for all anglers.

Here is a photo of  "The fish that was not entered " This King weighed more than 50lbs  The fish that won the tournament and paid out $50,000.00 weighed 37.5 lbs. I did not enter because Kathryn was out of town and I was by myself and not planning on  fishing. I went out anyway, again, (by myself) and had this fish boated by 9:00 AM. I was driving with one hand, I had the gaff in the other and my rod and reel between my knees. What a site. Too bad no one else was there to video tape the catch. I might have gotten the AFV $100,000.00 for the funniest video. Brad
